The German Environmental Management Association awards bremenports third place
The port management company bremenports ranked third in the Office & Environment competition held by the German Environmental Management Association (B.A.U.M.).
Because of the Coronavirus, the prizes were awarded online today on the organisation’s twitter channel, @BAUMeV.
To enter the competition, the company completed an extensive questionnaire which covered criteria for the procurement of office appliances, materialis and furniture, as well as office cleaning, waste disposal and catering. The questions were answered by employees from highly diverse sectors of the company.
bremenports scored particularly well in the categories ‘Copiers and printers’ as well as ‘Waste separation’. The multifunction office machines all bear the German “Blue Angel” ecolabel. Moreover, the port management company uses only green power from renewable energy sources.
The criteria assessed in the competition have been specified in binding internal “Guidelines for sustainable, energy-efficient procurement” at bremenports since 2018. These guidelines stipulate unambiguous standards for social, ecological and energy-efficient criteria and are based on recognised seals of approval. The guidelines are continuously being expanded to include further product groups and sustainability criteria.
Office products, however, account for only a minor share of contract award and procurement at bremenports; sustainable products are also used in port operations (e.g. maintenance work). bremenports has also set itself the target of providing its staff with a climate-friendly company fleet.
