Hansestadt Bremisches Hafenamt is responsible for all sovereign tasks in the port area in the municipality of Bremen.
This refers primarily to the following tasks:
Remit of the local administration authority, building, road traffic, waterways, waste management and soil protection authorities for the overseas port area in Bremerhaven which belongs to the municipality of Bremen.
The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Institute is a higher federal authority affiliated to the Federal Ministry of Transport, Building and Urban Development. The key tasks of the Agency are as follows: general shipping tasks, ship safety, ship measurement, nautical & hydrographical services, marine environment protection, oceanographic tasks.
Up-to-date information about weather at sea is also available from the German Meteorological Office.
