Energy management implemented

Currently the port infrastructure in Bremen and Bremerhaven uses about 18 million kWh per year, including 7 million kWh for electricity. To further optimize our energy consumption we have implemented an energy management system in accordance with DIN EN ISO 50001 and successfully completed the corresponding certification in November 2016.

Climate protection: our concern and legal obligation
Due to our location close to the North Sea we are especially endangered by climate change and want to act responsibly. But energy efficiency is not only our concern, it is the declared aim of the federal and state government to reduce the CO2 emissions by 40% until 2020. Furthermore, the amendment of the Act on Energy Services and Energy Efficiency Measures, EDL-G of April 22, 2015 obliged us to implement an energy management.

Goal: CO2 neutral port infrastructure
It is our goal to operate the port infrastructure CO2 neutral in the future. To achieve this goal we commit ourselves to a sustainable and resource-saving handling of energy, we use energy sparingly, increase our energy related performance as well as the share of renewable energy sources in a continuous improvement process.
