Within just a few years, numerous wind energy companies have set up business in Bremerhaven. There has been a huge increase in demand for special port infrastructure for the pre-assembly and shipping of offshore wind turbines. Bremen Senate aims to make Bremerhaven the leading European location for wind turbine production and logistics and consequently resolved to build an additional offshore platform in January 2010.
bremenports has been entrusted with overall management of the project, from the search for an operating company, to the technical construction planning, right through to the design and implementation of compensation measures. The total costs of the infrastructure are expected to be in the region of EUR 180 million and are to be funded by the Federal Land of Bremen.
